Grace Kids “Assisting families in reaching and growing kids to be world changers as they love and serve like Jesus." That's the purpose of Grace Kids ages 6 months through 5th graders. Through small groups, crafts, stories, games and service, the Bible and God's love is made relevant to these little hearts and minds. Family events and special outings are planned throughout the year to enrich family connection. We also offer childcare during the worship service from 11:15am-1:00pm for children 6 months to 5 years of age, in Classroom #2.

Mission:

1. Grace Kids is kid-targeted (look at every aspect through the eyes of a 5th grade boy)
Are we doing the kinds of things that kids really enjoy?
Are we singing the style of songs kids want to sing?
Are we teaching the lessons kids will understand?
Would kids invite their friends?
Does this room look inviting to kids?
2. Grace Kids is safe
A. Physical safety:
Background checks for all help
Identification tags/systems
Cleanliness
B. Emotional safety:
Positive Tone and attitude of helpers
Appropriate/positive discipline
C. Spiritual safety:
Pastoring as much as teaching
Act like “Jesus with skin on”
Reflects beliefs and values of SGF
3. Grace Kids’ teaching is relevant/application oriented to help kids be world changers.
Age appropriate application
Three content questions:
A. Know what? (Bible truth: What in THIS world can Jesus change“)
B. So what? (Application: What in MY world does Jesus want to change?)
C. Now what? (Action: With Jesus’ help HOW will I change my world?)
4. Grace Kids will teach the Bible creatively
Kids need to “get it” rather than “endure it.”
Interactive and participatory
5. Grace Kids will intentionally shepherd in small groups
Large group (Campfire Time) /Small group (Team Time) approach
Teachers shepherd with their teaching
6. Grace Kids is FUN!
Absence of fun=absence of kids
Mixed with surprises, celebrations, activities and humor
Sabbath Morning Format
Campfire time (about 20 minutes) in the Campfire Room with ages PreK-5th
Bible story lesson presentation.
Mixed ages: Preschool-5th grade.
Gear everything to appeal to a 5th grade boy: “Cools goes down not up” (meaning that younger kids will tune into older kids
stuff but not visa versa.) Creativity in teaching is unleashed through drama, video, music and audience participation activities.
Team Time (20-30 minutes) in the cabins
Age appropriate groups with teacher (Possible groups: PreK-1, 2-3, 4-5)
Age appropriate creative lesson application using: memorization, role playing, group activities, skits, crafts, games, etc.
Teachers with shepherd’s hearts listen/respond to kids real life challenges.
